Bio

             My name is Martin Patrick Blythe. I'm a 23-year-old graduate of Loras College majoring in Media Studies.  Before coming to Loras, I attended Des Moines Area Community College and received a certificate in video production.

I got into film back in high school. I didn't know what I was going to do with my life after high school if I'm being honest. When I went to sign up for my senior classes, I decided to check out a film class that my school offered. Two weeks in and I was hooked. I loved being behind the camera and making short skits, and whacky movie trailers. I knew that filming was what I wanted to pursue. Initially, I began my video studies at Des Moines Area Community College.  My first semester there was amazing. Classes and hands-on experience, I learned all aspects of being in a production crew; from C100s, C200s, and Canon Rebels t7s.  to editing programs like Premiere Pro, Da Vinci Resolve, Adobe After Effects, Audition, and Final Cut Pro. After finishing my certification at DMACC, I wanted to experience more of this as a student. Loras College was highly recommended for their media major; off I went to Dubuque, Iowa in the fall of 2021. In my three years at Loras, I have had the opportunity to not just learn how to use a wide variety of cameras, audio and editing equipment and programs but develop and grow my skills through many  'real world' productions and projects. High School senior Martin had no idea that filming, directing and editing would become such an amazing career to pursue. College senior Martin graduates in May 2024 and is excited to see what comes next!
